Volunteer Opportunities
Small towns such as New Lebanon count on their volunteers! It’s a great way to meet new people and the Town is almost always in need of assistance. Check each listing below and contact the appropriate listed person if you’re interested. Don’t know what you want to do? Send your name to our volunteer liaison, Susan Tipograph, stipograph@townofnewlebanonny.gov, and she’ll try to match you up with the right project!
VOLUNTEER AT SHATFORD PARK

Skate Park
Is now ready to be sealed. After caulking, the painting can begin. Trying to get this all complete before the Punk and Pantry event on Saturday, August 15. Will be working on it during the weekend of July 18 and 19 and could really use the help!
Trees for Tribs
Some trees need to be staked, weeded and mulched.
Invasive Plant Removal
There are some invasive plants that need removal (not weed whacking). Most of these are located near the stream and would most likely require working in and around the stream. Once removed, the weeds need to be taken away.
Tennis court bathroom
Wooden privacy wall needs to be scraped & painted
Pavilion Roof Sealing
We have ladders available and want to make sure that whoever is willing to help is comfortable and safe on the roof and willing to sign a waiver.
Pavilion Name Lettering
Need help to repaint the current metal lettering. This would be a nice easy job, but would require working off of a ladder. The letters are all bolted to the pavilion.
Weed Whacking at Shatford Park
if anyone is willing to help, there are plenty of places in the park that could be weed whacked like fence lines, around buildings and trees. We need to be extremely careful with the Trees for Tribs trees. Hitting the small trees with a weed whacker could easily kill them. Contact Danielle Patterson at nlrecreationchair@gmail.com
Walking Trail Maintenance
Walking trail rut repair and weed removal: The walking trails are looking great and are getting a lot of use, but repairs to washouts, weeding and brush trimming will always be necessary! If anyone needs tools in order to accomplish this please let Danielle or Chris know.

Volunteer for Town Picnic
Our Town picnic is happening at the Shatford Park pavilion on Sunday, August 9th from 12 noon to 4:00 p.m. It is a great event, attended by hundreds of people. We need volunteers to help set up, starting at 10:00 a.m. (setting up tables, shucking corn, etc.) and clean up at 4:00 which generally goes pretty quickly. Community Center Light Replacement
Help install about 30 LED lights into the community center. Requires new ballasts and some minor wiring. Someone can help talk you through doing what is necessary. Contact Susan Tipograph at stipograph@townofnewlebanonny.gov if you can help.
